In “Women Have What It Takes”, author claims that she had a dream to have a military career since she was a teenager, while the way for a woman to join the army is not as smooth as it seems. A lot of men doubts whether women have such power and courage to kill enemies. Bans for women to fight in the combat and protect the country just like men still exist.

As the author says, I’m in the position of standing by the side to lift the ban as well. It is said centuries ago that “all men are created equal”(1776), men and women have the equal rights in the society, regardless of areas, no mention to the military one. Supporting ideas are listed as follows.

At first, women who volunteer to go into combat must be full of responsibility and confidence. War is not a game, everyone in it has a strong mind to dedicate herself and protect the country. It is surely believed that no normal person would like to join the war, while the woman who is willing to do it undoubtedly has a self-esteem before she makes up her mind. Confidence is half of success.

Secondly, a soldier who is on the front line should not only have great strength, but also be strong in mental. Take the example of pregnancy, it is definitely a job belonged to women, which is quite a convincing point in the article. What women can tolerate and handle is not that little as men imagine. The preceding point also sheds more light on the prominent “position” that the Elizabeth Choy story has been given within the Museum, where, apart from being told on one of the storyboards, a video runs at intervals showcasing her horrible experiences under the Japanese. [1] It is believed that women had played a vital role since ancient time.

Thirdly, women gain strong power from combat. They learn to protect the country, family and themselves. Perhaps due to some degree of the over-idealisation of home that accompanies displacement, Mozambican women who were neglected and abused by their partners pointed out that access to kinship support in the homecountry would have made it easier for them to get some protection. [2] It is a both-win strategy for women and the whole society. Once women are faced with violence, they will not be in the weak side. What’s more, President Obama vowed in his inaugural address to expand opportunities for women recently. It is stated that women as a stronger group of great power have drew the attention throughout the world.Obviously most of communities will benefit a lot under such circumstance.

To sum up, going to combats for women has been an irresistible trend. Women have what it takes, and they have faith in themselves. Undoubtedly, it appears to be a magnificent opportunity for women to show their patriotism towards the motherland, even to show women’s power. Facts will tell everybody that women are worth trusting.
